It’s really been a lovely spring so far although a little on the dry side.  Our abnormally high temperatures make it very tempting to put those colorful annuals in the ground, but you may want to hold off for another couple of weeks.  May 20th is the first new moon of the month.  The new moon has proved to be a reliable start date for outdoor planting. But it is safe to plant the hardier perennials before May 20th.

Another big May event is Mother’s Day which falls on May 13th this year.  If Mom loves gardening, this is the place to pick up the perfect gift.  We have hanging baskets, ready-made containers, or you could personalize things by bringing your own special container and picking the plants--we’ll fill it for you!  The Gift Barn is another great resource for a little something special for Mom.  Our Charm Scarves to the right are a real hit—we’ve already sold out once and have just restocked.  Or let her decide and give her a Frerichs Farm gift card.

One last date to note is Memorial Day.  Although we’re normally closed on Mondays, note that we will be open on Memorial Day, Monday, May 28th.

Dig in and enjoy the spring!

Season-long Color with Geraniums

Geraniums are a garden favorite. Not only are they hardy and not fussy, but they provide bursts of color for your landscape well into the first frost. They seemed to really like the weather this year and we have a beautiful array to choose from in our greenhouses.

Charm Mom!

These unique accessories have been selling really well. And why wouldn't they? The Charm Scarves come in many colors and are all ornated with beautiful charms. These would make great Mother's Day gifts!
