Why use native plants?
1.
Native plants are a hardy group. They have developed adaptations that allow them to thrive in the local soil and climate conditions.
2.
They have also evolved defenses against the native pests and diseases. This means using less pesticides, herbicides and water.
3.
One of the most important aspects of using native plants is that they are essential components of the communities that provide vital habitat for wildlife.
4.
Native plants can fit into almost any landscape plan. Your native plant landscape or garden can be naturalized or well-manicured--it's up to you!

New England Aster
(Aster novae-anglia)
Prefers sun to partial shade. Grows 3'-5'.
Cardinal Flower
(Lobelia cardinalis)
Prefers moist soil in partial shade or wet soil in full sun.
Foam Flower
(Tiarella cordifolia)
Prefers partial shade to full shade and average to moist soil. Grows 8" - 12"
Ostrich Fern
(Matteuccia struthiopteris)
Prefers sun to partial shade and average to wet soil. Grows 2' - 5'
Cinnamon Fern
(Osmunda cinnamomea)
Prefers full sun to partial shade. (Likes wet soil in full sun.) 5' clumps
